Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg increased the production by 20% for 9 months

According to the results of nine months of 2021, St. Petersburg Hyundai plant produced 178,300 vehicles, which is 20% higher than in the same period of the last year. The enterprise produces Hyundai Solaris sedan and Creta crossover, popular in the Russian market, as well as the Kia Rio sedan and the Rio X cross-hatchback.

It should be noted that in July of this year, the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant launched the mass production of the second generation of the Hyundai Creta crossover, according to the press service of Hyundai Motor CIS. In addition, in January-September of 2021, Russian Hyundai plant exported almost 20 thousand cars, which is 57% higher in compare with the same period of the last year. At the same time, deliveries of the new Hyundai Creta to neighboring countries began in August. As previously reported by AUTOSTAT, in September 2021 Hyundai Wia opened a plant for the production of engines in St. Petersburg.

This project became one of the stages in the implementation of a special investment contract between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Government of St. Petersburg and the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant aimed at localizing production in the Russian Federation. In October of this year, Hyundai WiaRus plans to start the mass production of 1.6-liter engines, and in 2022 - to master the production of 2.0-liter engines.
