Bi-fuel LADA Largus will go on sale in early 2022

The bi-fuel modification capable of consuming both gasoline and compressed natural gas (methane) will return to the LADA Largus range in the first quarter of 2022. This was announced by the head of the ATS-Auto company, Aleksey Suchkov, according to whom the working prototypes of the updated Largus CNG are already ready, they will be sent for certification tests at the end of September. The increase in price relative to the gasoline car will exceed 200 thousand rubles (this amount is compensated by the state subsidy).

We will remind, Largus CNG disappeared from sale after restyling of the family in February of 2021. The production of the modification will resume in an updated form, and such a Largus CNG will receive a fundamental structural improvement relative to the old model - an optimized layout of gas cylinders. On previous vans and station wagons, cylinders were placed in the cargo compartment or trunk and concealed the useful volume. In the new Largus CNG, two cylinders are installed under the bottom in the rear overhang - for this, ATS-Auto engineers had to develop new mountings.

The first serial LADA with a methane gas cylinder unit was the LADA Vesta CNG, introduced to the market in July 2017. The LADA Largus CNG station wagon expanded the range of LADA gas engines in April 2019. ATS-Auto Company is engaged in small-scale production of LADA methane cars. LPG equipment is installed on light commercial and 5-seater passenger versions of the LADA Largus family. All LADA Largus CNGs are equipped with a 1.6-liter 16-valve LADA engine and a manual gearbox. Natural gas is pumped into a 90-liter cylinder with a capacity of 22 cubic meters of compressed methane.

At the same time, the standard 50-liter gas tank has been preserved. LADA Largus CNG with a full tank has a cruising range of over 1000 km. The use of methane can reduce fuel costs by three times.
