The Russian car market took the second place in Europe in August

The Russian car market, which accelerated the fall in August, nevertheless remained in second place in the ranking of the largest car markets in Europe. According to the data received by the AUTOSTAT agency in the national associations of European automakers, Germany remains the leader in car sales the last month, where 193,307 cars were sold (-23%).

If, when considering the European automotive market, we take into account Russia, then our country retains the second line of the European rating. According to the Association of European Businesses, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in August were 114,130 units (-17%). The third place among the largest European car markets was taken by France with 88,066 cars (-15%). The fourth result was shown by Great Britain - 68,033 vehicles, which is 22% lower than the previous year.

As noted by the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Dealers (SMMT), this is the worst result in August since 2013, and the negative dynamics is due to constant disruptions in the supply of new cars due to a lack of semiconductors for their production. Italy, the dealers of which reduced sales by 27.3% to 64,689 cars, still finishes the top-five of European leaders. We also add that the Spanish car market in August fell by 28.9% and reached 47,584 cars.

As noted in the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Cars and Trucks (ANFAC), the reduction of the registration tax on new cars until the end of the year has not been yet able to support the demand.
