Chinese crossovers may be on the list of "luxury cars"

The rapid increase in prices for new cars during the pandemic has led to the fact that higher rates of transport tax are now being taxed on some models from the mass market. For example, in March this year, Kia Mohave and Skoda Kodiaq were included in the list of "luxury cars" from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

After the autumn price hike, a few more mass-produced models have surpassed the 3 million rubles mark, which are likely to be included in the extended list. Among them there is Jeep Compass, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Haval H9 in version 2.0 Premium and GAC GN8 in Prestige GT package. Meanwhile, earlier a new bill was submitted to the State Duma for consideration, which should affect the coefficients when calculating the transport tax. As conceived by the authors of the new draft law, the 1.1 coefficient is now proposed to be applied for passenger cars, the average price of which is from 4 to 7 million rubles (now from 3 to 5 million rubles). Coefficient 2 is used when the price of the car is from 7 to 15 million rubles (now from 5 to 10 million rubles). Coefficient 3 is for cars with an average cost of cars from 15 to 22 million rubles (now from 10 to 15 million rubles), as well as for cars with an average cost of 22 million rubles (now from 15 million rubles).

Let us remind you that the "luxury tax" was first established in our country in 2014. Then the coefficients for tax payments were determined, depending on the value of the car - for cars, the price of which exceeded 3 million rubles. Since then, every year, as prices have risen, the initial list compiled by the Ministry of Industry and Trade has increased noticeably and as of March 1st, 2021, there were already 1387 models and modifications in it.
