Korean cars.jpg

Korean brands accounted for almost 25% of all new passenger cars sold in the country in the first half of 2021. As experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency calculated on the basis of AEB data, in quantitative terms, this corresponds to 200 thousand units, which is 37.7% higher than in January-June of 2020.

The most popular model among Korean cars is still Kia Rio, the sales volume of which grew by 24% to 44.8 thousand vehicles. The second place is taken by Hyundai Creta crossover, sales of which were 38.8 thousand units (+ 31%). Hyundai Solaris finishes the top-three, sales of which in January-June were 33.5 thousand units (+ 82% to the YOY basis).

KIA K5 is the next in the model ranking (it is the fourth one) - with a result of 15.3 thousand cars. On September 1st this business sedan celebrates one year since its start in the Russian market, but it had a very successful start and, as we can see, in January-June it confidently surpassed KIA Sportage in terms of sales, which occupies the fifth position in the model ranking of the most popular Korean cars. For six months, 14.4 thousand of these cars were sold, which is 32.7% higher than the previous year.
