The first 60 KAMAZ electric buses were assembled in Moscow

At the Sokolnichesky Carriage Repair Plant in Moscow, 60 KAMAZ electric buses were assembled and handed over to the Mosgortrans State Unitary Enterprise, which are already operating on the city's routes. It should be reminded that the final production of KAMAZ electric buses on the territory of the Sokolnichesky car repair and construction plant in Moscow started in April, and the first assembled units began to run through the streets of the capital in early June, the press service of the automaker reports.

“Under the terms of the fourth contract concluded with the State Unitary Enterprise “Mosgortrans”, we must transfer 350 KAMAZ electric buses in 2021. As a part of this order, 200 units have already been produced, among which 60 were assembled directly in Moscow on the basis of SVARZ, the rest of the electric buses were produced at NEFAZ, a subsidiary of KAMAZ in Bashkortostan. Thus, by January 2022, Moscow passengers will be transported by 750 KAMAZ electric buses,” said Andrei Dolganov, head of the Electric Passenger Transport Promotion Service.

Recall that the first electric buses entered the streets of Moscow in the autumn of 2018. Under the terms of the contracts, in 2018-2021, domestic manufacturers of GAZ and KAMAZ delivered 600 electric buses to the capital. As Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said earlier, the plans for the coming years are to increase the fleet of electric buses to 2,200 units, which will be almost a third of the capital's land transport fleet.
