What Japanese cars are the best-selling in Russia in 2021? TOP-10 of models

The volume of the market of new cars of Japanese brands in the 1st half of 2021 in Russia was almost 119.8 thousand units, which is 5.3% higher than in January-June 2020 (according to AEB data). As experts of agency "AUTOSTAT" noted, this corresponds to a market share of 14.8% (a year ago it was 19.1%).

Thus, we see that with a positive trend (more cars were sold in quantitative terms), in general, the share of "Japanese" in the Russian market has decreased. A closer look reveals that more than a half of Japanese brands presented in Russia have lost from -0.1 to -1.1 percentage points for the indicated period of time. Toyota RAV4 crossover remained the leader in terms of sales in January-June, sales of which for six months of 2021 reached 19.1 thousand units. The second place of the rating is occupied by another Toyota model - Camry business sedan with a result of 14.9 thousand sold units.

The third was Nissan Qashqai, the sales of which in January-June were 9.7 thousand units. Mazda CX-5 (9.6 thousand units) lags behind him a little. Nissan X-Trail (8.9 thousand units) and Mitsubishi Outlander (7.5 thousand units) are the next in the ranking of the best-selling Japanese cars. The TOP-10 also includes Toyota LC Prado (6.3 thousand units), Nissan Terrano (5.6 thousand units) and Lexus RX (about 5 thousand units). Whether the share of Japanese cars will continue to fall further - we will see in the second half of the year.
