Discounts on electric cars will be introduced in Russia

The government has developed a mechanism to stimulate demand within the framework of the concept for the development of electric transport in Russia. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the maximum discount for buyers of electric vehicles will be 25% (that is, 625 thousand rubles from the indicative cost of a car of 2.5 million rubles).

The discount will be provided for electric vehicles localized in Russia. For example, until the end of 2023, the discount will apply to the purchase of SKD electric vehicles, including those using an imported battery. When buying an electric car in the period from 2024 to 2025, the discount will apply to small-unit electric vehicles (welding, body painting) or electric cars with a domestic battery, and from 2026 to 2030, the presence of a domestic battery will become mandatory to receive a discount. At the same time, additional study is underway on the development of the direction of hydrogen fuel cells, infrastructure for such electric vehicles and related industries.

By 2024, it is planned to put into operation about 2.9 thousand "fast" charging stations, and by 2030 their number will grow to 27 thousand. According to the working group of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the implementation of the concept will lead to the creation of at least 39 thousand highly productive jobs by 2030, attracting about 600 billion rubles of private investment, as well as additional budget revenues of more than 200 billion rubles.
