Cars under the Dacia brand will not appear in Russia

AVTOVAZ President Nicolas Maure denied rumors about the introduction of the Dacia brand in the Russian market, which appeared after the third-generation Logan and Sandero prototypes were seen during tests in Togliatti with the Romanian brand nameplates.

“There are no plans to produce Dacia cars in Russia, just as there are no plans to bring the Dacia brand to the Russian market. But from the point of view of the use of components, it is possible to use more widely both Dacia components at AVTOVAZ and AVTOVAZ components at a plant in Romania,” said Nicolas Maure in an interview with Expert magazine.

The top manager emphasized that the convergence of Dacia and LADA brands primarily concerns engineering, these brands will differ stylistically quite strongly. As a reminder, in January 2021, Renault Group created a new business unit Dacia-LADA as a part of the new strategic plan Renaulution, which will strengthen the production synergies between brands through the use of a highly competitive and flexible CMF-B platform in combination with a high localization factor.

AVTOVAZ and Dacia will remain separate companies with their own history and strategy, which together will produce more than 1 million CMF-B vehicles annually, moving from 4 platforms to one platform and reducing the number of body types from 18 to 11.
