If in Russia as a whole, the leaders of the new SUV market were only 3 models for the last 15 years (you can read about it here), then in the capital cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg - 5 and 4, respectively.

This was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT", having considered the relevant statistics for 2007 - 2021. So, according to the agency, in Moscow during this time the most popular models in the segment of crossovers and SUVs were: Nissan Qashqai (2007 - 2011), Volkswagen Tiguan (2012), Renault Duster (2013 - 2014), Nissan X-Trail (2015 - 2016) and Hyundai Creta (2017 - 2021). In the northern capital, the alignment is practically the same, only the leadership of Renault Duster lasted not two years, but four - from 2013 to 2016.

In other words, Nissan X-Trail in St. Petersburg did not become a bestseller in the SUV market. And the rest of the models were the bestsellers, and in the same years as in Moscow: Nissan Qashqai (2007 - 2011), Volkswagen Tiguan (2012), Renault Duster (2013 - 2016) and Hyundai Creta (2017 - 2021). Thus, in both metropolitan cities, the most popular SUVs for the last 15 years were representatives of Japan, Germany, France and South Korea.
