Jiří Cerny joins the Management Board of Volkswagen Group Rus


Volkswagen Group Rus announced personnel changes in the management team. Jiří Černý will become the company’s new Member of the Board responsible for logistics and production of vehicles and engines in Russia as of 1 August 2021. He is entrusted with the task to improve production efficiency and product quality.

According to Volkswagen Group Rus, Jiří Černý graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague, has been working for Volkswagen Group for more than seven years, and has impressive experience in running efficient production facilities and implementing ambitious strategies.   He began his career in 1986 at the LIAZ TRUCKS plant, where he became Production Manager. He held various managing positions at companies such as Johnson Controls Automotive and Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile (1992-2013).

In 2014 he became Managing Director of SKODA plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. Recently, (since 2019) he has been Senior Director of SAIC Volkswagen Automotive, China. We should remind that Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Kaluga produces the Volkswagen Polo and the Skoda Rapid liftbacks, as well as the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover. The plant also manufactures 1.6 MPI petrol engines of the EA211 series, which are installed in the most popular Russian-made Volkswagen and Skoda models, and are exported to production sites around the world.

In addition, contract assembly of the Skoda Octavia liftback, the Skoda Kodiaq and the Karoq crossovers, as well as the new Volkswagen Taos compact crossover, which was put on the production line in May 2021, is organized at Gorky Automobile Plant in Nizhny Novgorod.
