TOP-10 brands of the Russian new truck market

94f20a32-670-0.jpgom January to May 2021, 36.6 thousand new trucks were purchased in Russia. According to the experts of AUTOSTAT agency, this is 38% more than for 5 months of 2020. Such a significant increase is due to the low comparative base, when Covid control measures affected the automotive business in our country in Spring last year.

Experts also draw attention to the fact that 45% of the market in this segment is generated by two domestic brands - KAMAZ and GAZ. KAMAZ remains the absolute leader in this market far ahead of competitors: 13 thousand vehicles of this brand were sold in our country for 5 months. The second place is taken by GAZ with 3.6 thousand vehicles. They are followed by Swedish Scania, whose trucks in the Russian market rank first among foreign vehicles and third in the overall rating. Since the beginning of the year, 2.9 thousand of these vehicles have been purchased in Russia. Belarusian MAZ is on the fourth (2.3 thousand vehicles) and  Swedish Volvo is on the fifth (2 thousand vehicles) places. 

Three more brands sold over 1,000 trucks: MAN (1.9 thousand vehicles), Ural (1.9 thousand vehicles) and Mercedes-Benz (1.5 thousand vehicles). Besides them, DAF and Isuzu are also in the TOP-10.  At the same time, only the Japanese brand registered a market decline (-32%), while all the others showed growth: from + 4% for Volvo to + 107% for Scania.
