European Union is preparing to abandon petrol and diesel vehicles by 2035

Electric cars.jpg

The countries of the European Union are planning to abandon petrol vehicles completely in favor of electric vehicles. According to Lenta.ru, citing Bloomberg information, the transition to vehicles with zero emissions will help fight global warming in the world. The estimated transition schedule is bound to the reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere caused by vehicles. So, the European Union would like to reduce these emissions by 65% by 2030 and by 100% by 2035. For the mass adoption of electric vehicles, the European Commission will commit the governments of the EU countries to install charging stations every 60 kilometers on major highways.

We should mention that the world's largest automakers have recently been talking about their ambitious ‘green’ plans increasingly frequent. For example, German Volkswagen announced that it intends to stop production of ICE vehicles in Europe by 2035. Renault intends to make 90% of its vehicles environmentally-friendly. American Ford Motor Co. intends to increase the share of electric vehicles in its global sales up to 40% by 2030.

In Russia, interest and attention to electric vehicles is also growing gradually. E.g., according to AUTOSTAT analytic agency, only since the beginning of 2021, sales of new electric vehicles in our country have increased 7 times. An impressive growth, if not for one circumstance: this growth occurred at a very low base of the previous period. In fact, from January to June, only 650 new electric vehicles were purchased in Russia - compared to the petrol vehicle market, this is still a drop in the ocean.
