Kia K5 becomes the best-selling D-segment car in the first half of the year

15,276 Kia K5 vehicles were sold in Russia from January to June 2021, (according to AEB). According to AUTOSTAT experts, this result made the Korean model the bestseller in the D-segment in the first half of the year.

The second place was taken by the Toyota Camry, which previously used to be an unchallenged leader in this segment every year. Over the past 6 months, 14,916 vehicles of the Japanese model were sold. The third place in the D-segment is traditionally occupied by the Hyundai Sonata, which was chosen by 4,012 customers in the first half of the year.

The Toyota Camry’s leadership in the D-segment was disputed with the launch of the Kia K5 in the Russian market (in September 2020). Since then, it began to pressure the Japanese model, topping the monthly sales ranking in D-segment every now and then. For example, this year the Kia K5 left the Toyota Camry behind in January, March and June, but in February, April and May it was quite the opposite. Nevertheless, according to the results of the half-year, the leadership was taken by the Korean model, whose initial cost is almost 200 thousand rubles less than that of the Japanese vehicle.
