Sales of LADA cars grew 1.5 times in the 1st half of the year

For 6 months of 2021, 200,219 LADA cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 51% higher than in the first half of 2020. According to the press service of AVTOVAZ, LADA's market share was 23% (+2.1 pp to the 1st half of 2020), which is the best result for the previous 10 years.

The bestseller of the brand during this period was LADA Granta, the sales of which grew by 42.8% and reached 72,287 vehicles. The second result was shown by LADA Vesta - 57,031 sold cars (+ 17.4%). Niva family cars are the third ones by popularity, which were chosen by 30 317 buyers (+ 55.4% taking into account the cars produced by OJSC “LADA West Togliatti”).

Nicolas Maure, President of AVTOVAZ JSC, notes that the overall growth in car sales in the Russian market in the first half of the year was 37% in compare with the same period of 2020. In his opinion, during the rest of the year, the sales volume will largely depend on the supply possibilities due to the current global situation with the shortage of electronic components. “We also see some uncertainty about consumer demand in Q4, in which we would welcome the government support measures.

In general, we believe that the results for the year may be even higher than the forecasted growth of 10% relatively to 2020 - the market may exceed 1.8 million vehicles,” hopes Mr. Maure.
