Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg increased the production by 40% in the first half of the year


In the first half of 2021, St. Petersburg Hyundai plant produced 123 thousand cars, which is 40% higher than in the same period of the previous year. The company produces Hyundai Solaris sedan and Creta crossover, KIA Rio sedan and Rio X cross-hatchback.

All these models are among the most popular in the Russian market, and Hyundai Creta compact crossover is the permanent leader in the SUV segment. According to the press service of Hyundai Motor CIS, by the end of 2021, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant plans to produce more than 230 thousand vehicles (+ 5% in compare with the previous year), continuing to work in three production shifts five days a week. In particular, according to Andrey Kazak, director of the production department of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant, the production plan for 2021 provides the production of 40 thousand first-generation Hyundai Creta crossovers, which will be completed at the end of June.

On July 1st, the mass production of the new "Creta" will start at the plant in St. Petersburg, and by the end of the year, 20 thousand of these cars should come off the assembly line. The volume of exports of cars produced at the Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg in January-June 2021 grew by 78% and reached 14.6 thousand units. Cars produced by "HMMR" are exported mainly to Kazakhstan, Belarus and Azerbaijan. We also add that the new-generation Russian-made Hyundai Creta crossover will be exported this summer.
