    The analytic agency “AUTOSTAT” within the framework of the project “AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS - 2019. Used cars: preferences of car owners” (third wave) * investigated the willingness of car owners to consider purchase of a used car at a dealership. This study was conducted by online survey in March of 2019; it was attended by more than 1,900 car owners of various car brands.



New LADA models will cost more than 1 million rubles


AVTOVAZ, the traditional leader in the low-cost car market in Russia, intends to move its key models to a more expensive segment within five years. According to the President of AVTOVAZ and General Director for Renault Operations in Russia and the CIS Nicolas Maure, at the first stage, the price of new LADA models will start from 1 million rubles in current prices, then - from 1.2 million rubles.

This is a strategic decision by the company based on the plans of its shareholder Renault to increase profitability. However, the experts doubt the effectiveness of the new pricing policy, expecting problems in case of positioning LADA more expensive than KIA and Hyundai (minimum prices start from 850-900 thousand rubles). “In an amicable way, a manufacturer should have different size segments, that is, cars of segment C, so that when a client's income increases or he starts a family, he has something to change to within the brand,” says the executive director of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT Sergey Udalov. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in January 2021, Renault Group, within the framework of the new strategic plan Renaulution, created a new business unit Dacia-LADA, which will strengthen the production synergies between brands through the use of a highly competitive and flexible CMF- B platform combined with the highest localization rate.

AVTOVAZ and Dacia will remain separate companies with their own history and strategy, which together will produce more than 1 million CMF-B vehicles annually, moving from 4 platforms to one platform and reducing the number of body types from 18 to 11.
