New Creta is the most localized Hyundai model in Russi

The level of localization of the second generation Hyundai Creta crossover, the mass production of which will start at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg in July, will already be 1,700 points at the initial stage according to the methodology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. For comparison, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio models produced at the same enterprise now have this figure of 1500 points. And in October 2021, when the new Hyundai Creta will be equipped with Russian-made engines from Hyundai WIA, the level of localization of this model will reach 2100 points. The head of the PR department of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus, Maria Maltseva, told AUTOSTAT about it.

According to her, among the new components localized in Russia that the new Hyundai Creta has received there is glass, power windows, seat belts, a steering wheel, door seals, crankcase protection and plastic linings for the fifth door. At the same time, the component base of the new generation of the crossover has been updated by 80% in compare with its predecessor.

Let us remind you that preparations for the production of the second generation Hyundai Creta began the previous summer. In connection with significant changes in the design and technical equipment of the novelty, the necessary changes in the production process affected each of the four workshops of the plant, where the equipment was modernized and the employees were trained accordingly. Investments in the modernization of production facilities for the release of the second generation Hyundai Creta were more than $ 100 million.
