European car market showed the record growth in April

Sales of passenger cars in Europe in April grew 3.6 times and reached 1 million 039 thousand 810 cars.

According to the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), the record growth is provided by a low base of the previous year, when dealerships were closed due to the outbreak of coronavirus in most European countries. Therefore, the current result will be more correct to compare with April 2019, in relation to which almost 300 thousand cars were sold less. At the end of four months of 2021, car sales in Europe were 4 million 120 thousand 443 units (+ 23.1%).

As noted in the review of the European car market for April, among automakers, Volkswagen sold the largest number of cars in the European Union - 120,626 cars (an increase of 3.3 times). Peugeot is the second one with 70,361 cars (an increase of 4.7 times). The third place is occupied by Mercedes-Benz, which sold 61,809 cars (an increase of 3.6 times). Toyota (61,128 units, an increase of 3.9 times) and BMW (60,623 units, an increase of 2.8 times) finished the top-five of leaders.
