Russian car market almost quadrupled in April


Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in April grew 3.9 times to 151,964 vehicles. According to the results of four months of 2021, the Russian car market was 515,934 cars (+ 24.3%), according to the data of the Association of European Businesses. As noted in the AEB, the sales volume is 24.3% higher than in 2020 for January-April 2021, but less by 4.5% than in the same period of 2019.

To stabilize the demand and business, government support measures are still needed. According to the current AEB forecast, by the end of 2021, 1 million 632 thousand passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be sold in Russia, which means a 2.1% market growth in compare with the previous year. Leadership in the Russian car market is held by the LADA brand, the sales of which grew 4 times in April and reached 37,931 vehicles.

The second place in terms of sales volume is kept by KIA - the sale of 19,101 cars (an increase of 4.4 times) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. The third place is occupied by Hyundai with 15,483 sold cars, which is 6.4 times higher than a year ago. Then Renault followed - cars of this brand were chosen by 13,957 buyers (an increase of 4.5 times). Skoda finishes the top five this time, sales of which were 10,365 cars (an increase of 3.4 times).

The TOP-10 of best-selling brands in April also included Volkswagen (9449 units, an increase of 3.1 times), Toyota (8,514 units, an increase of 3.3 times), GAZ (4911 units, an increase of 2,2 times), Nissan (3,681 units, an increase of 3.5 times) and Haval (3,001 units, an increase of 7.1 times).
