The capacity of the secondary battery market in Russia is over 11 million units


According to the results of a study conducted by the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, experts predict that in Russia the total demand of the secondary market for batteries in 2021 will be 11.4 million units.

Considering the structure of the secondary battery market in more detail, they also noted that owners of passenger cars have the greatest need for batteries, the share of which is more than 72% of the total capacity of the secondary battery market this year, or 8.2 million units.

To supply the truck market, 1.8 million batteries are needed, and for the LCV segment - 1.2 million units. Least of all batteries will be required to equip buses - this is lower than 2% of the total capacity, or 176 thousand units. As for the geography, according to the forecast, the secondary market of Moscow will need most of all batteries - more than 7% of the total, or 815.1 thousand units. Over 5%, or 661.7 thousand units, are in the Moscow region.

Krasnodar Territory is the leader among the non-capital regions in terms of battery demand (482.9 thousand units; the share is more than 4%). The top-five of the largest secondary markets in terms of this indicator also include St. Petersburg and the Rostov region (399.7 thousand and 343.7 thousand units, respectively).
