The dynamics of the Russian car market in May of 2020


Used LCV market showed a slight drop in Q1


For the first three months of this year, 92,000 used light commercial vehicles were purchased in Russia. As experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted, this is lower by 0.8% than in the same period of 2020. Leadership belonged to the domestic brand GAZ, which accounts for 40% of the whole secondary market.

It's resale volumes in the 1st quarter were 37 thousand units, which is higher by 0.6% than a year ago. For another Russian brand - UAZ - the volume of the secondary market fell by 18.4% to 8.2 thousand vehicles. Volkswagen became the best among foreign brands, by showing a drop of 1.1% to 5.6 thousand cars. The fourth and fifth places were occupied by Ford and Toyota - with equal results (5.4 thousand units each) and positive dynamics (+ 8.1% + 6.1%, respectively).

In the model structure of the LCV secondary market, the leadership belongs to GAZ 3302. The resale volume of this model was 20.3 thousand units in January - March 2021. The second and third positions were occupied by GAZ Gazelle NEXT (6 thousand units) and FordTransit (5 thousand units). In the regional breakdown, the leadership traditionally belongs to Moscow and Moscow region, which together accounted for about 14% of the whole secondary market of light commercial vehicles in the country.

Krasnodar Territory is the leader among non-capital constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which accounts for about 6% of the total market. Agency experts report that the secondary market of LCV shows a slight decline against the background of the market growth (+ 14%) of new such cars.
