In the base of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, patents appeared for selectors of automatic transmissions for two GAZ models - vehicles of the GAZelle Next and GAZon Next families.

According to Za Rulem, these versions of the cars were presented back in 2017. Then it became known that "GAZelle Next" will be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission Punch 6L50. For GAZon Next, engineers from the Gorky Automobile Plant in Nizhny Novgorod developed their own automatic transmission, also a 6-speed one.

GAZelle will receive an automatic transmission with a 2.8-liter Cummins ISF turbo diesel with a capacity of 149 hp, while GAZon will have a 4.4-liter YaMZ-534 diesel of the same capacity. Also, "GAZelle" should soon receive a 6-speed mechanics, like the Valdai Next, which will replace the 5-speed unit. GAZon will continue to be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, GAZ Group will present a number of new models in the Russian market in 2021. First of all, this is a full-fledged line of GAZelle NN vehicles, as well as a cabover medium-tonnage truck “Valdai Next”, which has already gone on sale in February this year.
