The market of new light commercial vehicles in Russia is growing for the second month in a row. According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, in March of 2021 its volume was 11 thousand units, which is higher by 27.6% than a year ago.
The market leader is still the domestic brand GAZ with a market share of 40%, which is equivalent to 4.5 thousand purchased cars. This is higher by 22.2% than in March of the previous year. Russian brand UAZ is the second one with a large lag behind the leader, with a market growth of 41.9%. This corresponds to 1.6 thousand purchased units. American Ford remained the most popular foreign brand with the result of 1.5 thousand units (+ 46.1%).
The domestic LADA is the next (1.3 thousand units), which showed the highest growth in the top five - plus 47%. Volkswagen ranks the fifth with 498 purchased light commercial vehicles (-9.8%).
In general, for the first quarter of 2021, the volume of the new LCV market in Russia was 27 thousand units. This is higher by 14% than for 3 months of the previous year.
