How has the fleet of vehicles changed in Russia for the last 10 years?

The experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" have calculated that for the last 10 years, the fleet of vehicles in our country has grown by almost a third. If at the beginning of 2011 its volume was 45.2 million units, then as of January 1st, 2021 it reached 59.2 million units. Note that in addition to cars and trucks, LCVs and buses, there were also taken into account motorcycles and trailers (including semi-trailers).

Analysts decided to see how the share of all these segments has changed for the last 10 years. It turned out that during the specified period, four of six types of vehicles (buses, motorcycles, trucks and light commercial vehicles) decreased their share in the fleet, while at two types (cars and trailers / semi-trailers) it increased.

Passenger cars, which remain the largest segment of the Russian fleet, have increased their presence the most. Their share for 10 years has grown from 73.2% to 76%. But the greatest losses were suffered by motorcycles, the share of which fell from 5.7% to 4%. At the same time, the bus segment remains the smallest in the country, which does not even reach 1%.

According to the experts of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, the change in the structure of the Russian fleet of vehicles makes it possible to judge the degree of development of motorization of the country's population (growth in the number of cars), a decrease in the share of public transport (buses) and the development of certain types of freight transport (increase in the fleet of trailers).
