Residents of Moscow and Moscow region began to buy less used cars

Moscow and Moscow region remain the largest car markets in the country, but at the same time they are among those constituent entities of the Russian Federation that show a drop in purchases of used cars, experts of AUTOSTAT agency noted.

So, according to the agency, in January - February 2021, the Russian market of used cars fell by 0.7% (in compare with two months of 2020). At the same time, the fall affected 54 regions of the country. If in Moscow the secondary market fell by 2.7%, then in the Moscow region - by 3.7%. And in such subjects of the Russian Federation as Vologda region (-10%), Kalmykia (-10.6%), Tula region (-12.1%) and Pskov region (-16%), the market decline turned out to be even double-digit. According to the experts of the AUTOSTAT agency, the continuing market decline in the capital regions is associated with the tightening of conditions for the use of private cars (the introduction of paid parking, the widespread use of video cameras for recording violations, etc.) and the development of alternative modes of transport (car sharing, taxi, etc.). ).

In other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the secondary market is growing, and this is the most clearly observed in Tuva (+ 29.8%), Chechnya (+ 19.7%), Buryatia (+ 18.1%) and Dagestan (+ 16.7%).
