    The analytic agency “AUTOSTAT” within the framework of the project “AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS - 2019. Used cars: preferences of car owners” (third wave) * investigated the willingness of car owners to consider purchase of a used car at a dealership. This study was conducted by online survey in March of 2019; it was attended by more than 1,900 car owners of various car brands.

Lada Priora and Kalina are among the most salable cars in Russia

On totals of the first half year of 2008 the models AVTOVAZ, Lada Priora and Kalina entered the TOP 20 of the most salable new passenger cars. Comparing with indexes of the last year, the family Lada Kalina (46, 5 thsd of sold cars) moved from the 6th to the 4th position; Lada Priora (56, 6 thsd of sold cars) moved from the 26th to the 3rd place. Two first places of the Top 20 also belong to Lada models: classic (88, 5 thsd units) and the family Lada Samara (88, 3 thsd cars).
As the analysts of AUTOSTAT note, the launch of new models of these families and the start of production of full power contributed to progress of Lada Priora and Kalina in the TOP 20. So, in November of 2007 AVTOVAZ started a serial output of universal Lada Kalina. The launch of the third model of this family allowed the production of Lada Kalina to start working in full power: 9 thsd cars per month in one shift. As for Lada Priora, during the reported period of the last year the sedan Lada Priora was being output together with the model 2110, and in July of 2007 Lada Priora completely changed this model. In February of 2008 this family was added by a hatchback which has completely displaced the model Lada 112 from the conveyer of VAZ to the end of June.
As the director on marketing communications of AVTOVAZ Aleksej Sorokin reported in the interview for the newspaper Seven Verst, the optimal price ratio and the coming of new bundlings to the market are among the main factors, contributing to the growth of sales of Lada Priora and Kalina. As he said, within these families AVTOVAZ offers a wide range of performances of cars, with different types of bodies, capacity of engine and different bundlings. Meanwhile, there is an intersection of price positioning. For example, some variants of performances of Lada Priora can cost less than more equipped bundlings of Lada Kalina. In opinion of Mr. Sorokin, this contributes to increase of volumes of realization, because the consumer can make a choice taking into consideration class, price and level of consumer qualities.
