According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, every tenth new passenger car sold in 2020 may be subject to the luxury tax. So, among 1 million 486.6 thousand sold cars, 146.5 thousand have an average price of more than 3 million rubles. That is, it accounts for almost 10% of total sales.

Recall that the increasing rates for the transport tax for the owners of expensive cars (or the luxury tax) came into force in 2014. At the same time, then the share of such cars, according to the agency "AUTOSTAT", was about 3% of the entire market.

According to the agency's experts, the continuing rise in car prices for the years has led to the fact that more and more models have become subject to the luxury tax. So, at the beginning of 2021, in accordance with the list published by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, there are already about 1400 of them.
