Russians spent 171 billion rubles for new cars in January

According to the assessment of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, Russians spent 171 billion rubles for new passenger cars in January 2021. This is higher by 8% than in the same month of last year. According to the agency's experts, the growth in market capacity in monetary terms is largely due to the increase in the weighted average price, which grew by 13% in the first month of this year.

This is despite the drop in new passenger car sales (-5%). Most of the money for the reporting period was spent for cars of the Korean brand KIA - 21.5 billion rubles. The second place in this rating is occupied by the German premium brand BMW with a result of 17 billion rubles. Japanese Toyota is the third one (15.7 billion rubles).

The residents of our country spent a little less money on becoming the owners of new LADA cars (RUB 15.4 billion). Also, Korean Hyundai and German Mercedes-Benz have comparable indicators in this regard (14.3 billion and 14.1 billion rubles, respectively). We also note the Czech Skoda brand (10.2 billion rubles). There were spent less than 10 billion rubles for cars of each of the remaining brands.
