    In 2018, sales of new cars in Russia grew by 12.8% in compare with 2017. Both segments - the mass and premium ones - also showed the growth (+ 13.9% and + 7.4%, respectively). Sales of cars of mass brands reached 1 572 246 units in 2018, the share of which is 91.2% of the total sales volume.



Vsevolghskij Ford Focus will be localized on 30%

The direction of the company Ford Motor Co. reported that the Vsevolghskij factory will reach the level of localization 30% in the nearest future. But it is now only a question of model Ford Focus. Ford Mondeo, planned for the launch, has to be localized from the very beginning: it has not yet details used for Focus. As the chief manager on purchases of the russian division Ford Arndt Furman reports, the factory needs suppliers who could deliver not only one element for the car, but several.

Later this word was defined and in 2006 the Ministry of economic development signed a new agreement after having given back some privileges. The Ministry required reaching the level of localization 30%, meaning by this only articles, services and works, done on the territory of Russia.
According to estimation of Sergej Bodrunov, the president of the association of manufacturers of automotive components of St. Petersburg, the volume of market of deliveries could reach the level of 4 5 bln USD per year only in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, where there are already six car factories. On a scale of all Russia this index is estimated in about 15 bln USD per year. However it will not be easy to get these orders for the russian enterprises. For example, Ford has refused of purchases of the russian steel for several times because of its low quality. Besides, the local manufacturers have other problems: concurrence. Japanese manufacturers in St. Petersburg take their traditional suppliers with them and the suppliers also build their production on the territory of the city.
