There is still a deficit in the Russian car market - despite the fact that manufacturers began to solve this problem last autumn. Experts informed AUTOSTAT agency when the situation with a shortage of cars at dealerships can normalize and whether it is worth buying a car today from the available range.

According to Vladimir Miroshnikov, Development Director of ROLF, the situation with the availability of new cars is gradually returning to normal. However, in a number of brands, both mass and premium segment, the availability of some models and trim levels is limited. Due to severe restrictive measures in the world, the supply chains of spare parts and components of assembly plants have suffered, which is reflected in significant delays and postponements of the delivery of cars to dealers. It is clear from the “supply pipe” that the deficit in the car market will remain in the first and likely in the second quarter.

In turn, Andrey Kamensky, Marketing Director of AVILON AG, notes that today the buyers first of all have a desire to buy a car “here and now” in the color and configuration available at dealers. For their part, dealers provide customers with modifications provided at the warehouses. In the presence of deficit, discounts were significantly reduced, and additional sales promotion programs from the importer were either reduced or ceased to operate altogether. Some of the previous year's cars were indeed sold without discounts, since cars are becoming more expensive, and all new deliveries will be at a new price list.

“For those who need a car, we do not recommend postponing the purchase. There won’t be definitely a price reduction, and even if promotions and support programs are launched, the discount will not exceed the difference by which the car will have time to rise in price by time. Purchase of a car on credit is now more profitable than the purchase of a car later, but without a loan," says Denis Petrunin, General Director of the AutoSpecCentre Group.
