Used motorcycle market fell by 8% in January

January can be called unsuccessful for the used motorcycle market - however, as well as for the new motorcycle market: both showed a drop. "Resale" in this segment sank by 8%, and the market of new motorcycles, as reported by AUTOSTAT earlier - by 12%.

Experts noted that negative dynamics in the used motorcycle market is observed for the first time for the previous 7 months: from July to December 2020 there was only growth, and in September - by a quarter, in October - by almost a third, and in the previous months of the year an increased interest in the used motor vehicles was expressed in double digits. In January 2021, Russians purchased 1,478 used motorcycles. They gave the greatest preference to the used motorcycles from Japan: the TOP-3 of the most popular included Japanese brands Honda (311 units), Yamaha (215 units), Suzuki (161 units), which together accounted for about a half (47%) of the market.

The top five also included German BMW (127 units) and Japanese Kawasaki (109). Another brand managed to step over the bar of 100 resold units - the domestic Ural (101 units). There were no surprises in the regional structure: by tradition, Moscow is the first one (214 units; the share is almost 15%). The capital is followed by Moscow region (147 units) and Krasnodar Territory (134 units). St. Petersburg is only the fourth one with 92 resold motorcycles. In other regions, in the first winter month, this figure is lower than 40 units.
