Mazda routes to Russia

Since September 2008 Mazda will start to deliver its cars by a new way, which will allow to shorten time of delivery itself in four times: from two months to two weeks.
As the weekly SmartMoney reports, earlier the sea way from Japan to Russia went around Asia, Afrika and Europe, now the cars will be delivered directly by Japanese sea to Far East and then to Moscow by train. Mazda has been preparing to start deliver cars overland for two years: the company studied the russian rolling-stock, checked the state of cars at the entrance and at the way out. The company Railtransauto which will realize the transportation of japanese cars, tried to optimize the schedule of freight trains from the Far East to Moscow, having shortened the duration of way from one months to 10 days. So, taking into consideration the transportation by ferry by the Sea of Japan, the total time of delivery is less than two weeks. We should also note that the delivery of cars by new route will be a little bit more expensive than by ship. However, Mazda will not deliver all cars through Siberia. According to RTA, the annual volume of its transportations by land is 50 thsd of Mazda cars. Meanwhile, if the rates of sales remain the same, as during the first half year of 2008, Mazda will realize over 76 thsd of cars in Russia. For transportation of this quantity 2 or 3 trains with 37 carriages are enough.
As SmartMoney reports, it is not by chance that Mazda was one of the first car manufacturers which started to optimize deliveries of their cars to Russia. Other japanese companies (Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi) are occupied with building of russian factories in Europe. However, the company Railtransauto already negotiates with them and intends to reach the annual volume of transportations of 150 thsd cars.
