Renault summed up the results of sales in Russia for 2020

Russian Renault dealers sold 128,408 vehicles in 2020, which is lower by 11% than in the previous year. As a result, Renault ranked the fourth in sales among all carmakers in Russia, and the brand's market share was 8%, according to the AEB. The Logan sedan became the best seller of Renault in Russia - 32,628 consumers chose it in the previous year (-8%).

The second place in the Renault lineup was occupied by the Duster crossover, with sales of 31,640 units (-19%). The third result among Renault models was shown by Sandero hatchback - 26,038 sold cars (-15%). Sales of the Kaptur crossover were 20,284 vehicles, which is lower by 21% than a year ago. It should be noted that in June a new generation of Kaptur appeared in the Russian market, and by the end of the year 10,993 of these cars were sold, the press service of the French brand reported.

As noted, in 2020, an increasing demand for a higher level of trim levels for cars of the whole model range was recorded. This primarily affected Renault Arkana and Kaptur, for which the Drive and Style lines became the most demanded. In addition, the combination of a turbocharged TCe 150 engine, created in cooperation with Daimler AG, and a continuously variable automatic transmission CVT X-Tronic is gaining more and more supporters in Russia. Thus, the share of the turbocharged engine in Renault Arkana sales reached 45%. A similar picture is emerging for the new Kaptur: among 10,993 sold cars since June 2020, about 40% are also aggregated with this engine.

In the first quarter of 2021, sales of the new generation of Renault Duster SUV will begin in the Russian market. Until 2025, Renault plans to present four new products in Russia, including models developed on the new CMF-B platform. In addition, Renault plans to enter new segments and launch a new C-Class model. The company is also considering the possibility of sales of electric vehicles in Russia.
