Mercedes-Benz summed up the results of sales in Russia for 2020

In 2020, Russian dealers of Mercedes-Benz sold 38,815 passenger cars and SUVs with a three-pointed star, which is lower by 8% than a year before. As a result, Mercedes-Benz retained its market share in Russia, including in the premium segment, according to the press service of the Stuttgart brand. As noted, the slight decline in total sales was mainly due to a difficult situation around the world, which led to a production stop at all production sites, which led to significant under-shipments of the main models compared to the planned volume. Thanks to active digitalization in the field of sales and service, Mercedes-Benz Rus and the dealer network were able to respond quickly to the significantly changed conditions. As a result, the share of online sales of passenger cars in the total volume was 8%, which made a significant contribution to the total.

The best sales figures were shown by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (incl. CLS), with 7,240 sold units, followed by the crossovers GLE, GLC and GLS. The V-Class premium minivan has become the undisputed market leader among luxury midsize vans. In addition, the premium X-Class pickup, which was completed in May of 2020, has found 219 buyers. Mercedes-Benz passenger car plant in the Moscow Region continued to operate throughout the pandemic, with the exception of a short hiatus in accordance with regulatory restrictions. As a result, since the start of production in May of 2019, more than 10 thousand cars have left the assembly line of the enterprise, which made a significant contribution to the overall result of sales in 2020. Recall that the Russian Mercedes-Benz plant produces the E-Class sedan, as well as GLE, GLC and GLS crossovers.

As of the end of 2020, Mercedes-Benz dealer network in Russia unites 69 full-format dealerships, 4 city showrooms and 8 service stations. According to Holger Zuffel, General Director of Mercedes-Benz Rus, by the end of 2020, the company sets a goal for 2021 - to surpass competitors in all profitable segments for Mercedes-Benz. As a reminder, in December, Russian Mercedes-Benz dealers began the accepting of orders for the new S-Class, which will go on sale in early February of 2021. Later, in the summer of 2021, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will enter the Russian market.
