Volvo reduced sales by 9% in Russia in 2020

Russian Volvo dealers sold 8025 cars in 2020, which is lower by 9% than a year ago.

According to the press service of VolvoCarRussia, the mid-size crossover XC60 remained the brand's bestseller in the Russian market in the previous year, which was sold in the amount of 2,998 units (-11%). The second result in terms of sales was shown by the full-size crossover XC90, which was chosen by 2,209 buyers (+ 7%). The compact crossover XC40 still finishes the top three of Volvo leaders, sales of which were 1,132 cars (-40%). It is also worth noting the increased interest in the S90 business sedan, sales of which grew by 27% up to 512 vehicles.

According to Irina Popova, the head of sales at VolvoCarRussia, after weak sales dynamics in the first half of 2020 caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the company managed to catch up in the second half of the year, by ending the third quarter with 20% growth and maintaining positive dynamics in the fourth quarter at 4,4% despite the supply restrictions. With the comfortable availability of cars starting from the first quarter and a balanced model line, VolvoCarRussia expects that the positive trend will continue throughout 2021.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, Volvo plans to start the sales of all-electric XC40 Recharge P8 crossover in Russia in the fourth quarter of 2021. The all-wheel drive Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 has a capacity of 408 hp and is able to travel over 400 km on a single charge (WLTP standard). The fast charging system recharges the battery from 0 to 80% for approximately 40 minutes.
