New CEO was appointed at St. Petersburg Hyundai plant

From January 1st, 2021, Joo Suchone has been appointed General Director of the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant, who will replace Son Kyongsu in this position. Over the previous year, Joo Suchone held the position of director of the production division of the Russian Hyundai Motor plant in St. Petersburg, the press service of the Korean brand reported. As noted, he is well familiar not only with the specifics of production activities, but also with the specifics of the St. Petersburg production site Hyundai Motor. In 2010, Joo Suchone took part in the launch of the assembly shop at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant. 10 years ago, he headed a team of Korean specialists responsible for the launch of the assembly shop equipment and the quality of Hyundai Solaris car, the first model to come off the assembly line of the Russian Hyundai Motor plant.

The new General Director of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant, Joo Suchone, was born on January 1st, 1965 in Seoul, where he also graduated in mechanical engineering. His career with Hyundai Motor began at the Ulsan plant in 1989 as an assembly engineer. Joo Suchone has dedicated over 30 years to perfecting manufacturing processes and enhancing the quality of Hyundai vehicles. Before coming to Russia in December 2019, he worked for 10 years at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, which is located in Korea, in the city of Namyang. Six years ago, Joo Suchone was promoted to director and head of the Center. The main task of this division is to test new production technologies prior to their mass introduction to ensure the high quality of future Hyundai models.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg is the second largest car manufacturer in Russia. More than 200 thousand cars come off the assembly line of the plant annually.
