The Russian car market rose to the second place in November in Europe

The Russian car market, which continued to grow in November, rose to the second place in the ranking of the largest car markets in Europe. According to the data received by the AUTOSTAT agency in the national associations of European automakers, Germany became the leader in car sales in November, where 290,150 cars were sold (-3%). If, when considering the European automotive market, we take into account Russia, then our country has risen to the second place in the European rating.

According to preliminary estimations of the agency "AUTOSTAT", sales of passenger cars were about 146 thousand units in the previous month (excluding LCV). The third result among European car markets was shown by Italy – 138,405 cars (-8.3%). France is the next with 126,047 sold cars (-27%). The top five of European leaders is still finished by Great Britain, the dealers of which sold 113,781 cars (-27.4%). As a part of the measures to counter the second wave of coronavirus, showrooms across England were closed in November, while distance sales of cars were allowed, which kept the industry from collapsing last spring, according to the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Dealers (SMMT). Nevertheless, the November result is in line with sales during the 2008 economic crisis.
