Avtotor has improved its forecast for the car production for 2020


Kaliningrad plant Avtotor expects to produce 150 thousand cars by the end of 2020, which is lower by 30% than a year before, said the founder of the company Vladimir Shcherbakov. According to him, the company sees the production at approximately the same level in the next year, but in case of the provided state support for the car market, the production volumes may grow. Recall that earlier Mr. Shcherbakov predicted a more significant drop in production in 2020 - by 40% in average. In October, the vice-president of Avtotor Holding for projects in the Kaliningrad region, Vladimir Krivchenko, said that by the end of the year it is planned to produce 145 thousand cars – lower by 32% than a year before.

Meanwhile, the group of companies "Avtotor" intends to produce cars on electric traction and hydrogen fuel, said Mr. Shcherbakov. According to him, the company is discussing these plans with the relevant ministries and intends to implement them in the next four - five years. In addition, Avtotor plans to return to the project of creating a cluster for the production of auto components near Kaliningrad. “Currently, we are negotiating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the government of the Kaliningrad region, where we undertake obligations for in-depth localization of production. In about 5-7 years, we have to change the existing SKD (large-unit assembly) production technology completely to CKD technologies, and produce a lot of components at factories in Russia. We mean, first of all, Kaliningrad, ” said Mr. Shcherbakov.
