Haval begins the construction of an engine plant in Russia


On November 25th, Haval began the construction of the first foreign engine manufacturing plant Great Wall Motor in Russia. The new enterprise will be located on the territory of the existing brand plant in the industrial park "Uzlovaya" in the Tula region and will occupy an area of more than 10 thousand square meters. Completion of construction and commissioning is planned by the end of 2022, the press service of Haval Motor Rus reports.

Investments in the project will be about 4 billion rubles. The planned production capacity of the new engine plant will be 80,000 units per a year. The project will be built in two stages, the first of which will be an engine assembly workshop with an area of over 3000 sq.m. The plant will assemble engines for more than 90% of Haval vehicles in Russia. The new production will provide 300 jobs. The Russian Haval plant began the work in June 2019 on the territory of the Uzlovaya industrial park in the Tula region, becoming the first full-cycle foreign enterprise for the brand. At the moment, Haval plant in Russia produces four models: F7 and F7x crossovers, as well as H5 and H9 frame SUVs.

The production capacity of the enterprise at the first stage is 80 thousand vehicles per a year, and the total number of employees is 1400 people. The planned production capacity reaches 150 thousand cars per a year. To meet the growing demand for Haval cars in Russia, the plant is constantly increasing its production rates. Currently, the production complex of the Haval plant includes stamping, welding, painting, assembly and component manufacturing shops.
