Lithuanian car market fell by 14% in October


Sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Lithuania in October fell (in compare with a year before) by 14.2% to 3,728 units. Thus, the downward trend that began in March continues after a one-off increase in September. At the same time, the passenger car market fell by 16.2% to 3,435 units, while LCV grew by 20.1% to 293 units. The worst day for the Lithuanian auto business was October 5th in the last month, when only 31 cars were registered in the country.

The five leading brands in the Lithuanian car market in October are headed by Fiat with 1 954 sold cars. This is followed by Toyota (295 units), Volkswagen (218 units), Skoda (189 units) and Nissan (133 units). Among the premium brands, Audi is the leader with 55 sold cars. In the model ranking of the last month in the passenger car segment, the first place was occupied by Fiat 500 (1 211 units), the second – by Fiat Panda (341 units), the third – by Fiat Tipo (316 units). Among light commercial vehicles, Fiat Doblo was the most popular (86 units). The experts also noted that the Cupra Formentor sport utility vehicle and Mazda MX-30 electric utility vehicle debuted in the country in October. In general, since the beginning of the year (January-October), 34,307 new cars were purchased in Lithuania, which is lower by 19.5% than in the same period of 2019 (42,625 units).
