Ukrainian car market fell by 20% in August


According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, in August of 2020 the volume of new passenger car market in Ukraine was 6,850 units, which is lower by 20% than a year ago. Thus, after two months of growth (in June and July), the Ukrainian car market returned to its decline.

In the brand structure of this market, the French brand Renault remains the leader, the indicator of which in August was 1,270 purchased cars – lower by 14% than in the same month of 2019. The second place is occupied by the Japanese Toyota with the result of 1,060 vehicles (-10%). The third was the German brand Volkswagen (545 units; + 14%). Hyundai (325 units; -15%) and Suzuki (295 units; + 49%) entered the top five of the most popular brands in Ukraine in August.

The most popular model of the local car market in the previous month of summer was Renault Duster crossover, which was purchased by 585 Ukrainians, which is higher by 31% than a year before. The next four positions in this ranking are occupied by Toyota RAV4 crossover (505 units; + 27%), Renault Logan sedan (330 units; -23%), Volkswagen Tiguan crossover (265 units; an increase of 4.7 times) and Renault Sandero hatchback (210 units; -47%). Note that since the beginning of the year, residents of Ukraine have bought about 54 thousand new cars, which is lower by 4% than in January - August of 2019.
