We meet the new generation Skoda Octavia and give facts from the history of the model

On September 17th, the premiere of the new generation Skoda Octavia liftback took place in Russia - already the fourth in a row. The first of them was published in 1996, and the name was borrowed from its predecessor, produced in 1959 - 1971, i.e. even in the era of Czechoslovakia. In connection with this event, we decided to give a number of figures associated with this model.

So, according to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, as of July 1st, 2020, there were about 428 thousand Skoda Octavia cars in Russia. Among all Skoda cars that we have in the country, this is the most widespread, and its share in the structure of the fleet of the Czech brand is 46%. Skoda itself calls Octavia model the "heart of the brand" as it is the best-selling car in the brand's lineup. So it was in our country - until 2015, until the more affordable Rapid appeared.

If in 2007-2008 Octavia accounted for over 70% of Skoda's Russian sales, then in 2019-2020 the sales were already lower than 30%. In addition to Rapid, Kodiaq began to take customers from Octavia, which last year even took the second place, pushing it into the third. But now there is also Karoq ... There is nothing to be done, the cars of the SUV and B segment are held in high esteem by Russians, while the C segment, to which Skoda Octavia belongs, has noticeably lost its fans for the last few years. For example, in the "good" years 2012 - 2013, sales of Octavia were in the range of 45 - 50 thousand units. And since 2015, they have not even reached 25 thousand.
