    For the last year, 1 million 671.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is more by 13.3% than in the last year. At the same time, in December of 2018, sales of new cars were 158.3 thousand units, which is more by 3.9% than a year ago. As for crossovers and SUVs, their sales in January-December grew by 18.1% in compare with 2017 and they were 729.2 thousand cars. The segment's share in total sales grew by 1.7 percentage points and reached 43.6%.



New luxury car sales grew by 9% in July


According to AUTOSTAT analytic agency, the volume of the Russian market of new Luxury segment vehicles came up to 118 vehicles in July 2020. That is 9.3% more than a year ago. We should mention that growth in this segment is slightly higher than in the new passenger car market as a whole (+ 8.5%).

At the same time, brands such as Rolls-Royce and Bently registered growth (+ 64.7% and + 12%, respectively), the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class added a quarter to its market volume, but other brands had negative dynamics: Ferrari (-50%), Lamborghini (-31.6%), Maserati (-25%). Not a single Aston Martin was sold last month. The Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class, which was purchased by 40 customers, remains the most popular model in the Luxury segment. In July, it accounted for more than a third of this market. The Bently Continental GT (15 vehicles) and the Rolls-Royce Culinan (15 vehicles) also entered the TOP-3.

More than a half of the new luxury vehicles were purchased by Moscow residents (60 vehicles). Other 17 of these luxurious vehicles were registered in St. Petersburg, and 10 were sold in Moscow region. As for non-capital regions, the Krasnodar Territory had the largest number expensive vehicle fans: 7 such vehicles were purchased here. 2 vehicles were registered in the Primorsky Territory, Leningrad and Sverdlovsk Regions. Each of other 18 regions of the Russian Federation added one vehicle to their Luxury parcs. During 7 months of 2020, the market of new luxury vehicles had negative dynamics: 650 luxury cars were purchased, which is 16% less than in 2019.
