Price segmentation of the car market in Russia in the first half of 2018

Passenger car production grew in July

According to Rosstat, 623 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia during seven months of 2020, which is 30.2% less than for the same period last year. At the same time, 113 thousand vehicles were produced in July, which is 3.9% more than a year ago. Thus, the growth in the passenger car production was registered for the first time since the beginning of the year.

We should mention that Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad started serial production of the new KIA K5 business-class sedan last month. And LADA Zapad Togliatti enterprise started production of the Niva SUV with LADA brand. Meanwhile, Hyundai and Nissan plants in Russia, Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, AVTOVAZ, LADA Izhevsk and LADA Zapad Togliatti enterprises stopped their conveyors for the summer break in July. In addition, due to the decreasing demand in the automotive market, Mazda Sollers plant and UAZ switched to a four-day working week.

In January-July, truck production came up to 64.5 thousand vehicles, which is 21.2% less than for the same period last year. Last month, 10.9 thousand trucks were assembled in Russia, that is 17.9% less than a year ago. We should mention that in July Isuzu Rus plant produced the 35,000th Isuzu chassis since the launch of production in July 2006. In addition, due the decreasing market demand, Ford Sollers switched to a four-day working week.
