About 140 Seat Leon cars were recalled in Russia

3.jpg

On July 29th, Volkswagen Group Rus announced the recall of 139 Seat Leon cars manufactured from 2014 to 2015. Reason for the recall: the screws that secure the camshaft valve housing may loosen, the press service of Rosstandart reports. On cars it is necessary to replace the valve timing regulator. All work will be carried out free of charge for the owners. Let us remind you that Seat entered the Russian market four times in total, but could not gain a foothold in it.

Since 2012, Volkswagen Group Rus has been selling cars of the Spanish brand in our country. Three models were presented in the Russian market - Seat Ibiza, Leon and Alhambra minivan. At the end of 2014, the company announced Seat's recall from the Russian market, by explaining its decision by the “reduction of segments” in which the brand is represented (low-cost small cars), the general economic situation and currency fluctuations.

In turn, dealers noted that Seat, the share of which in the Russian market is negligible, is unprofitable to import cars due to the devaluation of the ruble, and the company had no plans to invest in production localization. Market participants explained the termination of Seat sales in Russia not so much by the general stagnation of the market as by the absence of competitive models and the ineffectiveness of advertising policy. Dealers hoped for the Seat Toledo model, but it has not appeared in the Russian market.
