    For the last year, 1 million 671.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is more by 13.3% than in the last year. At the same time, in December of 2018, sales of new cars were 158.3 thousand units, which is more by 3.9% than a year ago. As for crossovers and SUVs, their sales in January-December grew by 18.1% in compare with 2017 and they were 729.2 thousand cars. The segment's share in total sales grew by 1.7 percentage points and reached 43.6%.

Ukrainian car market in the 1st half of 2020

According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, the market volume of new passenger cars in Ukraine in January-June of 2020 reached 37.7 thousand units, which is lower by 4.2% than a year ago. The leader of the Ukrainian car market among brands during this period was Renault, which sold 6,331 cars, which is higher by 5.1% than a year before. It should be noted that by the results of the first half of the year, the French brand managed to occupy about 17% of the local market.

The second place is occupied by the Japanese brand Toyota with the result of 5,366 cars (-3.2%). The third position is occupied by Korean KIA: cars of this brand were chosen by 3,093 Ukrainians, and its figure fell by 5.4% in compare with the previous year. This is followed by Skoda (1,961 units; -6.6%), and Nissan (1826 units) finished the top-5, sales of which fell by almost a third (-33.3%).

The rating of the most popular models in the Ukrainian car market is headed by KIA Sportage crossover, sales of which reached 2,633 cars at the end of the first half of the year. It is followed by Renault Duster (2,449 units), Toyota RAV4 (2448 units), Renault Logan (1548 units) and Renault Sandero (1423 units). Experts also noted that 7.2 thousand new passenger cars were sold in this market in June, which is higher by 3.2% than in June of 2019.
