KAMAZ may reduce its investment program by 1.5 times in 2020


In 2020, KAMAZ may reduce the investment program to 8-10 billion rubles from 10-14 billion rubles due to problems associated with the coronavirus pandemic, in particular, delays in the supply of equipment, said the head of the company Sergey Kogogin. This year, KAMAZ plans to invest, among other things, on the creation of a modern vehicle assembly line, the creation of a R6 gas engine, the start of work on the development of the Euro-6 engine, the completion of IT projects, and the introduction of an electronic technical process at plants.

According to the forecast of KAMAZ, the market of new heavy trucks (weighing 14-40 tons) in Russia by the end of 2020 will reach a maximum of 54 thousand vehicles against 65 thousand at the end of the previous year, the market drop will be 10-15%, writes the Prime agency. As previously reported AUTOSTAT, KAMAZ, which is implementing the largest investment project in the commercial segment, “Development of a model range of KAMAZ vehicles and modernization of capacities for their production,” invested about 52 billion rubles in it in 2012-2020.

Thus, a plant of K5 generation cab frames (capacity of 55 thousand units / year) with localization of up to 90% was launched, the production of P6 engines with localization of more than 80% (12 thousand units / year). For the next five years (2021 - 2025), it is planned to spend about 50 billion rubles more - on expanding the cab assembly line, developing the production of engines up to 30 thousand units, expanding of the production digitalization, mastering of unmanned vehicles and electrical engineering.
