In the 1st half of the year there were 228 fewer car dealers in Russia


Specialists of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", within the framework of the carried out monitoring, established that as of the beginning of July 2020, there were 3,152 official dealerships * for the sale and maintenance of cars in our country. Note that for the last 6 months their number has decreased by 228 (in January 2020 there were 3,370 dealers). At the same time, the decrease in the number of dealer centers during this period is explained by the fact that 362 dealer contracts were terminated, and 144 new ones were concluded.

Among the main changes, we note that the process of integration of Chevrolet Niva brand into the LADA dealer network (-122 dealer centers) has taken place. The Hawtai brand (-38 centers) and the Ravon brand (-50 centers) left the Russian car market. The new Chevrolet distributor UzAvto forms a dealer network in Russia based on a number of existing dealers and authorized service centers of General Motors Auto LLC, as well as some of the existing Ravon dealers, taking into account their geographical location and the degree of compliance with brand standards. Among the brands the dealer networks of which have shrunk the most, Lifan is worth noting. The Chinese automaker has 13 fewer dealerships. For a number of brands, the number of dealers that left was less than 10. It is also worth noting that some dealerships have moved into the category of service centers.

Among those manufacturers that have increased their dealer networks in January-June 2020, the Chinese are especially prominent. For example, Changan added 26 dealers (while 9 closed), FAW opened 12 (closed 3), Haval added 9 more centers to its dealer network, added JAC, Chery, and Geely to their already opened centers. Experts note that domestic LADA, which has the largest dealer network in Russia, has retained the total number of its official representatives (at the same time, it opened 3 centers and closed 3 ones).
