Nissan is seeking for collaboration with AVTOVAZ.

According to information of Automotive News Europe, the development of collaboration of Renault and AVTOVAZ could precipitate the expansion of Nissan at the russian market. In the opinion of executive director of Renault Nissan Carlos Gosn, this expansion is a critical element in the medium term business plan until 2012. The representatives of Nissan met with the direction of AVTOVAZ and considered a range of regions, where the collaboration between three companies would be possible, - as the senior Vice president on foreign markets of Nissan Colin Dodge told in his interview. AVTOVAZ has a huge supply base and a huge market share, - says Dodge. We are able to work together with several partners, and I will be surprised if we will not find the basis for collaboration, which will be of benefit for all three companies. Nissan considers the next ways of collaboration: sharing platforms with AVTOVAZ and producing the models with powers of Togliattis factory. Dodge also sees prospects of collaboration in the joint organization of purchases, in closer work with suppliers and cooperation in provision of production. Now Nissan is building a factory near St. Petersburg. The investments in this project constitute $200 mln. It will start working in 2009, its capacities take account of output of 50 thsd cars per year, including sedan Teana and a SUV X-Trail. The creation of its own production in Russia will help Nissan to reach its share at the rapidly growing russian market, which could become the biggest one in Europe. According to estimation of the auditing consulting company Ernst & Young, the volume of sales of new cars in Russia will constitute $5, 2 mln until 2012. This year the company Nissan plans to realize 160 thsd cars in Russia, which is more than 122038 sold cars last year (+59,6% against 2006).
